Job Description
We’re all about Good Work
You’ve probably seen us around - on the roads, building sites, and in cities, towns, and locations all over New Zealand.
We build and maintain infrastructure that improves the quality of life across New Zealand and Australia. Everything from roads and bridges, to energy, water and communication.
We’re big and growing but this will always be a family business with family centric values that are REAL; Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude and Leadership - driving who we are and what we do. We know that we’re only ever as good as our people. That’s why we’re committed to hiring, developing and retaining the best in the industry.
What’s in it for you?
At Fulton Hogan we truly care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools they need to succeed. From medical and life insurance from day one, to increasing our KiwiSaver employer contributions for service milestones, family scholarship programmes, learning and development programmes, long service leave, and a slew of retail and supplier discounts, we’re proud to offer a range of REAL Benefits that recognises the huge role our people play in our success.
The Opportunity
Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan. The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial – Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme – Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.
This exciting and challenging programme of work aims to improve safety and accessibility, enable an improved public transport system, provide more options for walking and cycling, and benefit the community and its visitors.
The programme will play a vital role in helping to stimulate the wider Whakatipu economy and support the region to recover from the effects of COVID-19.
Construction started in January 2021 and will take around four years to complete.

If you are a Site Engineer passionate about heavy civil construction and you enjoy working in a fast paced environment, then you will be keen to join us on the NZUP Programme of work. Your ability to build and maintain effective relationships with sub-contractors and manage site construction activities is essential. You will work beside a talented, experienced team, receiving mentoring from some of the best in the industry. Enjoy the opportunity to develop your career on this major project.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing support to the Project Engineers, Zone Managers and the team on the ground
- Ongoing daily interaction with the client and consultants
