Are you driven by a passion to make a difference to young people's lives? We're looking for an experienced senior clinician to join our team as Clinical Services Lead at Barnardo's.

We want to be the leading provider of integrated children's health and social care services, to increase the reach of health and wellbeing services and reduce health inequalities in the community.

We are looking for an inspirational senior clinician to provide visible professional and strategic leadership to the clinical workforce, both registered and non-registered, across Barnardo's.

Reporting to the Director of Health, you'll lead a small expert team of specialist health professionals to support the development, commissioning, and delivery of several programmes of work to implement the Health Strategy. With a focus on early years and integrated child & family health alongside CYP mental health support services, the range and scope of the role will include supporting face to face and digital delivery methods in place and under development.

This is a specific leadership role focused on supporting and advising on clinical service delivery, reviewing national strategies relating to clinical standards, making recommendations to the Director of Health, and ensuring delivery against these strategies.

You'll collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including service managers, GPs, commissioners (at ICB and Place level) and professional bodies and play a key role in clinical workforce planning and developing innovative solutions to service change and redesign.

In addition, you will be required to:

  • Provide expertise and support to create, develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of health projects focused primarily on prevention and integrated child and family health and mental health.
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership within the organisation with responsibility for developing and implementing clinically focused strategies, policies, and procedures across child and family health, and mental health services.
  • Deputise when required in the Director of Health's absence and delegate appropriately to clinical and administration staff.
  • Ensure evidence based clinical practice is embedded into the organisation.
  • Work closely with service managers to ensure that all staff have and develop the appropriate clinical competencies for their role and that organisational support is in place to enable staff to continuously improve quality.
  • Develop a standardised approach to the provision of clinical supervision to ensure registered professionals meet clinical standards.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical training provided for delivery of child and family health, and mental health services in conjunction with the Barnardo's University
  • Provide direct line management and clinical management responsibility for the Strategic Leads for Psychology and Psychotherapy, and Health Visiting
  • Develop (as required) and effectively implement core clinical policies and procedures such as Clinical Supervision and ensure compliance in collaboration with the Strategic Lead for Clinical Governance
  • Provide clinical input into major contract bid opportunities for Healthy Child 0-19 and Mental Health contracts.

You'll have:

Education/Knowledge

  • Professional NMC, HCPC or other AHP registration (current), with a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Leadership or management qualification or equivalent recent experience in a leadership position
  • Educated to Master's level (desirable)

Skills/Experience

  • Highly developed specialised knowledge and skills within clinical leadership, and management, minimum 5 years' experience
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical experience of delivering early years and integrated child and family health alongside children and young people (CYP) mental health support services.
  • Understanding of the broader NHS landscape and current reforms e.g., Long Term Plan and ICB developments
  • Understanding of commissioning of children's services
